Frequently asked questions

Is it really $33 to upgrade my entire business?

Yes! Thanks to the SA REP Scheme, eligible businesses can upgrade for a once-off payment of $33 which includes installation by certified electricians.

Who is eligible for the upgrade?

REPS lighting upgrades are available to business that:

  • Have received permission from the premise’s landlord
  • Have existing inefficient lights (fluorescent tubes, halogen downlights or mercury vapour highbays) that do not require repositioning
  • Have a minimum of 20 lights for upgrade (high-bay lights only require a minimum of 4 lights to be eligible) and are available for a site inspection
  • Consume less than 160 MWh per annum on the business site. Large business customers that consume more than this are also eligible for REPS commercial lighting upgrades, however, must contribute a minimum of $1.70 (inc GST) per GJ of energy saved for the upgrade

Is there a minimum number of lights required?

If you are looking to upgrade your highbays, your business must have a minimum of 4 lights for upgrade to be eligible.

For all other lights under this scheme, there is a minimum requirement of 20 lights for upgrade.

How quickly will my business start saving?

Your business will start saving as soon as the LEDs are installed. You will notice a significant reduction of up to 80% in your quarterly bills effective immediately.
